At Openreach, we repair and maintain the UK’s broadband network, so that people and businesses can talk, work and play. If you have previous experience as a fibre engineer, you could step up to senior level, and supervise the quality and standard of our contractors’ work.
As one of our qualified fibre engineers you’ll build good relationships with a team of third-party fibre engineers in your area. You’ll be assessing the quality and auditing the progresses of their work to ensure the installations are completed to high standard and on time. At times, you might need to jump in and do the work yourself, so you’ll need the right skills and be willing to provide hands-on help when it’s needed. That’s why you’ll need experience working with either FTTP, FTTC or FTTN connections. You’ll also hold an NRSWA licence, and you’ll have no more than 6 points on your driving licence.
If you’re not yet an experienced fibre engineer, we also offer trainee roles.
To supervise the work the engineers do you’ll need to be happy working outside, whether that’s in glorious spring sunshine or bracing wintry weather as well as moving from home to street to office every day. We’ll give you your own van with tools, which you’ll occasionally need to use if a contractor isn’t hitting the mark.
Join us as a qualified fibre engineer and you’ll have a promising career ahead of you, with opportunities to progress even further.
